(Seoul, Korea) -- The opening session of the Asia Internet
Rights Conference begins today and will last until
Saturday afternoon.
Fifty participants from Asia, Europe, and the Americas are
gathering on the campus of Chungang University to discuss
a number of issues related to internet governance,
activism, and international solidarity.
"The Asia Internet Rights Conference will help prepare us
for an era of government suppression of the internet.
Internet users are in serious danger of losing many of
their rights, including freedom of expression. So it is
urgent for progressive Asian media organizations to
strengthen international solidarity links through this
conference," said Oh Byong-il, executive director of the
Korean Progressive Network (Jinbonet), the host of the
conference.
