UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE ON TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT
The conference is UNCTAD´s highest decision-making body. It meets every four years to set priorities and guidelines for the organization, and provides an opportunity to debate key economic and development issues. During the week-long conference, a number of will be organized around the main theme:
Debates will focus on ways to make trade work for development, bearing in mind the outcomes of the recent summits on Financing for Development and Sustainable Development. The Second Trade Ministers Meeting of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) is scheduled to take place in Dhaka on 2 June 2003. The Ministerial meeting is to be preceded by a Senior Officials meeting from 31 May to 1 June 2003. This Ministerial Meeting will enable the LDCs to identify and review issues of common interest within the context of the Doha Development Agenda, and to develop a common position for the 5th WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in Cancún in September 2003.
