Capital markets show slight improvement

Capital markets showed slight improvement yesterday as some issues gained momentum at both the Dhaka and the Chittagong bourses on growing demand for scripts.

The market saw thinner transaction of scripts. The turnover in value at the DSE was, however, down, but at the CSE it was higher.

The DSE-20 Selective Price Index for blue chip shares was up by 3.13 points to 1017.14 from yesterday's 1014.01. The DSE Weighted Average Share Price Index went up slightly at 823.22. A total of 1,568,771 shares worth Tk 28.59 million (USD 0.49 million) were traded at the DSE yesterday compared with the previous day's 1,642,103 shares worth Tk 46.16 million (USD 0.797 million). In all, 163 issues were traded, of which 90 gained, 41 lost and 32 remained unchanged.

The CSE-30 Selective Price Index for blue chips was 12.05 points to 1205.7 from the previous day's 1188.38. But the CSE Trade Volume Weighted Index was higher at 1841.24.

A total of 129,925 shares worth Tk 1.88 million (USD 0.033 million) were traded at the CSE yesterday against Monday's 262,969 shares worth Tk 12.14 million (USD 0.210 million). In all, 50 issues were traded at the CSE, of which 14 closed higher, 22 lost and 14 remained unchanged.

The market capitalization at the DSE went 0.165 percent or Tk 110 million (USD 1.9 million) up at Tk 66.82 billion (USD 1.154 billion) from Monday's Tk 66.71 billion (USD 1.152 billion). The market capitalization at the CSE went 0.066 per cent or Tk 40 million (USD 0.69 million) higher at Tk 60.31 billion (USD 1.012 billion) from yesterday's Tk 60.27 billion (USD 1.041 billion).
